A borrowed body language

by María Camnar

Francisco & María, at María's home wearing El Closet

I’ve held my bones

Skin-d myself in

To mimic anything that’s not my own

Makes no sense at all

The mind has winning thoughts

I’ve come to know

Body language

In its most intimate form

Other bodies will have information

You won’t need

Let alone know how to speak

They wear Macarena, Leonardo & Tomás

These photographs were taken on different days, with different lighting. Same clothes, different people. I, Maria, borrowed Francisco’s body language. In doing so, I discovered how foreign it is mimic something, any thing, that belongs to someone else. We walk this life only knowing how our body, of water, speaks.
